LHA and CMS Advice

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation to mine and can offer advice.

I’m planning to leave my relationship, which has been emotionally abusive, sometimes, most recently, physical, which I'm worried will get worse, not hitting but pushing me, grabbing my arm, twisting my wrist, saying he wants to aggressively trip me up so I fall over, he said that's what he was trying to do when he pushed me and I bashed into the oven, throwing dirty sink water in my face and threats. I currently have nothing to my name, only our 3-year-old daughter and our wonderful dog.

I’ve applied for housing, but they’ve advised me to look into renting privately. Unfortunately, my credit score has worsened during the relationship, which makes things more difficult.

I’ve applied for a job at my old workplace, close to where I used to live, near friends. However, both of my parents have passed away, so I don’t have the option to stay with family or anywhere else temporarily.

If you’ve been in a similar situation, could you share your experiences with benefits and CMS? My local housing allowance is £750, which would only cover a small flat. With my earnings and benefits combined, would it be possible to afford something a bit higher, like a £950 two-bedroom flat or house? The job I’ve applied for is part-time, and I would be earning around £1,300 a month. I could look for other things to boost my earnings, if needed. CMS should be around £550 based on his earnings.

We are not married. Things got bad when I was pregnant, it wasn't like this before. Any advice or insights would be so appreciated. Thank you!

What is you living situation at the moment? could you stay if he left? First thing I would do is report him to the police for assault and have him removed.
