Long time separated. 2dc which I am primary carer for. Jointly owned house.

I can't buy him out.
He can't buy me out.
For years he's demanded the house be sold but never pursued it.
I started divorce, and want to sell now . He doesn't want to. Wants to force me to go to court.
House in a state of disrepair but there us equity which we will split .
How do i move things forward??

If he won't agree to the sale, you'll need to get a court order. Why won't he agree? Is he just being a dick and wanting to make things hard for you or is there some other reason it's not in his best interest to sell?

You will need to get a court order to sell it. If X refuses to sign contracts after it's been sold then a judge can sign on his behalf. It just takes time and money.

However, do you both agree on the equity split percentage and whether the EA and solicitor fees are taken out before the split? Would you want more of the equity to not touch his pension or any savings? Get that decided and sorted legally first as 50/50 is only the starting point.

Get the process started. With any luck the inevitably of the sale will hit him. Along with the need to avoid paying its of money to be told that by a judge.
