What did you do with your wedding ring and when did you take it off and how long where you married for

Married for 18 years, took it off the day he moved out. It's in the original box in a drawer.

I've kept my eternity ring, but i always wore that on my right hand, and I chose it so it feels more like my jewellery rather than something related to "us".

NailsHairNipsHeels · 19/11/2024 23:29

Married 8 years and I took it off the second the door closed when he left. We'd been together 16 and a half years.

I had my wedding ring, engagement ring and eternity ring remade into an every day ring and a solitaire pendant. They were hidden away in a box and would have been sold eventually so I remade them

I threw mine in the sea from the top of a cliff where he proposed to me. I never wanted to see it again.

Penny45duke · 19/11/2024 23:39

I was married for 30years and took my wedding ring off and threw it at him before I left after finding out that he was cheating on me for 9 months with someone who used to buy chickens from him while I was out at work window cleaning

It was 3 days ago as well

I think how the marriage was, and how it ended are the most important questions not the duration of the marriage. I had my wedding and engagement rings made into one lovely ring I wear everyday.

Iamsorryyes · 19/11/2024 23:42

Oh OP that is horrible. You must be feeling all over the place.

Penny45duke · 19/11/2024 23:49

I was in tears when I found out that my husband has been cheating on me for 9months and I was still in tears when I took my wedding ring off and threw it at my husband

Married over 20 years. I took mine off a few months after I told him I wanted to separate. I’ve kept them and my children can choose what they want to do with them in a few years. They may choose to sell them and that’s fine.

Penny45duke · 20/11/2024 00:04

Did you start crying when you took them off experiencedteacher

neilyoungismyhero · 20/11/2024 00:05

I took mine off and threw them out of a moving car on the road to Reading the same evening am I learnt he had been cheating on me before we split up and she was also pregnant.

Penny45duke · 20/11/2024 00:07

Did you start crying neilyoungismyhero and how did you find out he was cheating on you and how long where you married for and did you have any children with him

I took mine off the minute I threw him out. I got my engagement ring and wedding ring redesigned. I wish I hadn't bothered tbh. My engagement ring was beautiful and I didn't want to lose it but it cost me £600 to have it redesigned and I never wear it. It's still my engagement ring to me and reminds me of the shit show that was to come.

Dogaredabomb · 19/05/2025 11:39

I've sold everything and used it for useful things.

Yep, that's why I threw mine in the sea. I gave my engagement ring to my niece because she had always liked it and my DD said it was the wrong colour (yellow) gold for her.

merrymelody · 20/05/2025 20:29

Mine was kicking around in a drawer for awhile and then we moved and I haven’t seen it since.

User27563 · 20/05/2025 20:33

Mine are in my jewellery box and I intend to pass them on to my daughters as they're pretty!

MellowPinkDeer · 20/05/2025 20:37

I used my engagement ring as a down payment on my horse 🤣 I sold my wedding ring for the cost of the platinum and I kept my eternity ring.

Redamyryllis · 20/05/2025 20:39

On the night I found out he was cheating I took my wedding ring off in front of him and threw it out of the bedroom window as far as I could.
I sold the engagement ring the next day.

StartingAgainFGS · 20/05/2025 20:39

Can I ask how/where people sold them? It's on my to do list!

Some jewellers will buy them or you could put them on e-bay

I took mine to an independent jewellers. The engagement ring he sold on a commission and the wedding ring was melted down so I got the trade in cash .

ObliviousCoalmine · 20/05/2025 20:44

I took mine off when he moved out, no crying. I sold them to a jeweller.

Dogaredabomb · 20/05/2025 20:46

I sent mine to a jewellers in hatton garden for valuation after getting free valuations from auction houses so I knew the right ballpark figure.

For gold i sent it to goldreserves. co.uk who guarantee the best price. I was very impressed with the price. I found ebay hopeless.

StartingAgainFGS · 20/05/2025 20:59

Thank you!
OP hope you're ok
