Has anyone used the non profit solicitor called affordable justice?? They are just for women and fees are half price normal solicitor. They don’t offer a free half an hour though so hard to get a sense if they are good or not. I had a free half an hour with someone locally who was brilliant and actually she spent 50 minutes on phone to me no charge and gave me lots of useful advice and actually told me to hold of legally for now so not pushy at all and didn’t have a fight mentality which I don’t want. Tempted to go with her for that reason but also considering the half price fees of other one so just interested in views.

Hi, I haven’t no but just interested in what stage have you got to with your separation?Have you actually left yet and did the solicitor tell you anything particularly helpful or something you didn’t already know?

Was really helpful. Husband has left the home. She just said need to sort childcare first then start financial discussions and also get divorce up and running in background but didn’t feel I need legal advice at present. Also don’t sell house or do anything without agreement being done in court. Mainly said don’t put mortgage in my name as was going to try and do that with husband paying more in Child maintaince instead of mortgage but said weakens position on your capacity to get mortgage and needs when it’s signed off by court. Hard to explain it all and some stuff don’t fully understand. Get a free half an hour and just see what they say for you as guess everyone is different.
