Hello can anyone help me get a better system in place before my son starts high school in September? Just to add the high school is not within walking distance from where I live and no bus either. I already have one child at HS in year 9.
so I work a 3 week rolling Rota one week end in every 3 a combination of lates and earlies.
Their dad doesn’t do shifts and can work from home some of the time and does live within walking distance from high school. He also works one in every 3 weekends.
it currently works like this I either have the kids or I’m working (I do ten hour shifts) now I’m not complaining about having my kids I love them ti bits. But it would be nice to be able to have a day off from both every now and then. It’s about once every 2-3 months I get a Saturday where I’m not working or got the kids.
sone months I can end up doing 2 weekends in a month and sometimes he does but he still always has a free weekend to himself if that’s the case.
i am able to change my rota at work and as long as I’m doing the same hours so not losing any money should be fine but I just can’t get my head around it. I can’t plan anything in advance where he can as he does the Rotas.
if you’ve got this far thank you so much for reading and I’ve you’ve got any experience in 50/50 parenting and shift work then please help!
