Telling children - seperation

Hi the time has finally come to tell our children. One adult one young teen. Would it be better telling them on a Fri night so they can have the whole weekend to ask questions and arrange their emotions? Or will that not make a difference to the sadness? It is such a hard thing to do and we need to do the best we can, for them.

Yes that’s what I did. I think my DC would’ve been too upset to go in the next day. I know it will still be on their minds by Monday but the shock will have subsided a little.

My two are younger, but everything i have read says don't tell them in the evening as they will go to bed and possibly be alone with their thoughts/worries. No way is the right way I guess, but before bed might not be ideal, maybe day is better so they have other plans after/can talk to someone that day.
