Hi everyone,
Just looking for some advice really. I am currently having a horrendous time at home as we have decided we need to separate. I had started an online postgraduate course around the time things started to get worse. Now, I have fell behind far too much to catch-up and have to ask for an extension or even better to defer my course. I have written the email to my tutor so many times then deleted..I can't find the right words without feeling like I sound pathetic or a bit crazy. Please help, what would you suggest I say? Also, they ask for proof or documents to support the request but I don't have anything at all. Feeling really fed up and depressed about the whole thing😔

I basically had the same thing, with the added pressure that work was paying for the course. I emailed the supervisor and explained - i work in a university and the reasons young students want to defer are absolutely mad compared to this so honestly i think it will be fine. Just ask, worst case scenario is, they say no and you're no worse off than are now. I don't think they will though

Keep you request factual - I work in education if there are any reasons why they can't defer/extend it will be because of retape and not a lack of compassion. I relation to documents again that might be linked to funding etc but expalin you don't have anything but you could consider visiting a GP and asking them to provide something on the grounds of your mental health. It might cost but could be worth it.

You are giving reasons not excuses - there is a difference so try to keep that in mind.
