Does anyone have a list or practical tips for me? I know I’ll need to tell the children, sell house and sort finances but does a solicitor help us sort finances etc? What else?

children are young teens who will live with me but with lots of contact

I’m assuming you’re married?
Do you work?
Do you have your own bank account with any child benefit paid into it?
Get copies of any bank accounts/shares/pensions etc
You won’t necessarily have to sell the house, you need to see a family solicitor to see what you can expect to get.

Thanks, yes I'm married, jointly owned house and only a joint bank account which I've showed no interest in up till now unfortunately so have no idea what's in it. I do work but he is a higher earner so no child benefit.

I'll look for local recommendations for a family solicitor
