Counselling when separated

I was wondering if anyone had any idea what to expect. Husband of 20 years decided he wanted to separate nearly a year ago. Since then - if not before, has been in a relationship with emotional affair partner. He has now decided he wants to go to counselling but is still seeing other woman! I don't understand the point or what the counsellor will say. Can anyone offer me any insights???

What does he/ you want to get out of the counselling? Are you interested in reconciliation? Do you have kids?

i think councellling is helpful in relationships and in divorce. At least it gives you space to talk and someone to referee. Although, I'm a bit confused as to the purpose of it in this situation.

I have no idea what he wants to get out of it. I would like to know what he has to say! I've asked him to start sorting out divorce as he is in another relationship but I don't get a response. I don't understand why he wants to be married to me and be starting a new life. Yes we have 2 kids mid/older teens!

Maybe he's trying to stale. Maybe he thinks he'll get less while the kids are minors. If you want a divorce just push alone with that.
