Changing from LIP to using a solicitor again.

I recently became a LIP having used a solicitor.
I’m now regretting my decision as my stbxh is being even more of a nightmare.
Is it possible to switch back to using her and can it be done quite quickly as our court date is soon.
Or once you’ve become a LIP do you have to stick to it? Thanks

You can change back but don’t let him bully you. What stage are you at?

Busbygirl · 08/05/2024 22:25

Thanks mumof3.
Trouble is, he’s a terrible bully.
We’re a few months off the final hearing but he’s been constantly writing to my solicitor for the last 6 months as he’s a LIP and my bills are through the roof.
She’s done her best to ignore him but it’s still cost me so much.

Ah I see. He’s playing the game. Why don’t you get a direct access barrister for the hearing only?

Are you the applicant? Just wondering about preparing the bundle…ideally you’d want control of that.

Busbygirl · 09/05/2024 07:46

I am The applicant.
I’m getting a direct access barrister and I’ve got the bundle from the first hearing so am just going to add supplementary sheets.
Was just thinking I might need my solicitor at the final hearing as she knows our case really well (this has been going on for 3 years). Although I’ll be able to use the same barrister I had at the FDR thank goodness as he witnessed my stbxhs outbursts.

3 years 🫣

You can use her for advice and to check your letters etc in the background without formally instructing her to act on your behalf.

Thanks for your help.
Yes 3 years! Quite ridiculous.
