Keeping money seperate

I've been with my boyfriend for 10 years and we won't be getting married, but I'm genuinely curious about this. We keep finances completely seperate, no it's not ideal but it's what has worked for us. He works and I'm on disability benefits at the moment for mental health until LO is old enough for school, so I can get a part time job. If we WERE to marry (or get into a CP), and in the unfortunate case of seperation, how would it work? Would he be made to give me half of his money even if I don't want it? Sorry for the stupid question, I don't know where else to ask so I'm hoping someone here would know.

No, if you don’t want any money then nobody could force you to take it. Even if a court told him to give you £X, if you are adamant that you do not want it then you would just give it straight back. Nobody can force you to keep and spend money you don’t want, you’d just give it back.
