Hi everyone
I’ve posted a few times before. I’m in an emotionally abusive relationship and I think my husband is a covert narcissist. We have a 4 month old baby.
any recommendations on divorce lawyers/ solicitors. I’m aware it’s going to be a tough process. If anyone has gone through it I would be grateful for advice.

Hello OP, that sounds a tough situation.

There are various options - could I ask if you have joint assets such as a house/mortgage? Do either of you have significant savings or pensions?
Do you have any savings in your own name?

Also - is your husband likely to be agreeable to a split and will work with you to keep costs down? (I'm guessing not from your post).

Hi @paperpickles thanks for your reply. We have a joint mortgage on our house and each of us have our own savings and pension.
i think he would be difficult about child custody which is my main concern. He has started telling his family that I have mental health issues every time I get angry and I’m worried he will use this against me.

This is a clear guide showing the process involved in divorce, the arrangements for any children, and dividing money and property.

If you cannot come to an agreement about child arrangements, you can apply to the court to decide.

Costs can soon mount up if you use a solicitor throughout the whole process. There is much that can be managed yourself if you undertake some research, and use a solicitor only when you feel you need more expert advice.
