Did you change your name?

I'm just wondering when or if you reverted to your maiden name?

What made you change it and do you have children etc?

Not me but my DM did and changed mine at the same time. I think it depends entirely on your setup, is the name solely your exDP’s or does it belong to your children too?

I use both! Quite useful really…I’m done with patriarchy and my surnames being those unrelated to my mum, but from 2 fairly twattish men in their own ways

so use married name for everything legal and nhs. Easier not to change. Same name as adult kids so easier wrt next of kin. Wasn’t going to pay out for new passport etc

use maiden name for all social media, on line stuff, meeting and communication with strangers and business. Helps with on line fraud btw

I just like being a bit difficult now 🤣.im over 60 and done with all that shit after 30 yrs of marriage

but then I avoid giving my first name online , just use 3 initials togther and systems can’t tell difference.

i use only Ms, and if I’m writing to get something done from someone who’s not met me I use just initials : says it all that they’ll usually respond with Mr initials . I’m with Brontë sisters on this, Jk Rowling etc.

Yes, when I got divorced I changed my name back to my maiden name. I'm now remarried and have kept my maiden name. I've been this name longer than I've been married to either of my husbands!

Both my children have my maiden name as a middle name.

We'd avoid all of these issues if we simply didn't change our names upon marriage!

Hatenewyear · 13/01/2024 23:03

Yes reverted to maiden name as soon as separated but then changed again to married name when married again. I like having the same surname as my husband and don’t feel any less because I chose my husband’s name.

I’ve done the exact same😀

I went back to my maiden name. I just wanted rid of his name. It was a very bitter divorce.

The children have his surname.

I did, although we'd only been married about 9 months when he left so it never felt like "my" surname. I've gone back to my maiden name and my son has his dad's surname.
