Changing my name back

I regret taking my husband’s name on marriage. My STBXH’s name that is. But I did, more than 20 years go so my professional achievements (qualifications and awards) and reputation are all using my married name.

I want to go back to being me. But I’m in two minds. My conditional order should come through in March so I have a bit of time to decide. WWYD?

If you have professional qualifications, experience and a great reputation, then I would tend to think that you have made it your name. Nothing to do with him, no need for the pfaff of changing your name (again).

Men just don't change theirs, do they?

Do you have children, if so, how old are they?

I changed mine back, including professionally. I'm mainly known by my business name anyway so it hasn't made much difference and no confusion. I prefer my maiden name and my married name was fairly common, I know at least 2 others with the same name in our town. It has been fairly easy to change name, though I haven't done my passport yet as had holiday booked.

My kids are all in their teens. They have my maiden name as a middle name. So I could add my maiden name to my surname and be the same as them.

i wish I’d never changed it in the first place but it’s too late for that. I know what I’ll be advising my kids though.
