Funeral - Permission needed?

I share custody 50/50 with ex and we are on very bad terms.

My Dad died recently and I wanted to ask my children if they would like to attend his funeral (age 11 & 13). It is a day when ex has the kids.

I have a horrible feeling ex is going to make it difficult and say they’re not allowed to go (and not facilitate getting them to train station, I don’t have a car).

Do I have any rights in this situation? Surely not unreasonable to allow them to attend their Grandfather’s funeral. But if he doesn’t want them to, who has the final say? Clearly only if the children want to go.
