I am 48 and have nothing. Don't own a house and am at uni retraining. Qualify next summer as a physio.
I have three children 15, 12 and 9 and the two youngest are my husbands. He is the main earner and I don't earn anything. We rent but the house is in his name as i had to go bankrupt in April this year due to business debts. (we lost our house when the business went down). He is not bankrupt as we kept the business in my name.

So I am living in a house and my name is not on the tenancy so can't claim housing benefit.
I can't move out as i can't get a rental(no deposit and a bankruptcy).
Spoke to the housing at the council and pretty much said I will not get anything.

i am at a loss. my relationship is dead and I have wanted out for a while. Nothing major just grown apart. However he does have a bad temper and sometimes loses it. I know he will not want to split.
Should I just stay put and try and get some
money together? It will take years though and I am so unhappy. That is why i went to Uni to do something so i can be self sufficient. I will be able to work by September!
I am trapped! How can I manage to get somewhere to live.

Anyone (parent?) who could be a guarantor?

Ah, Ok. From reading on here, I believe if you are homeless then the council has a statutory duty (think that’s the term) to house you. Try speaking to Shelter. Could you get even a p/t job to try and have some income?

You can move out and rent, claiming housing benefit.

Did you manage to get any help with your situation through the council or shelter?

Are you looking for work as saving a little money each month would help you. You might have to pay 6 months rent up front. Also, getting back into work will distract you from the situation and might help make it a little easier to cope with?
