Present for ex step daughter?

This is my first post pls be gentle!

I separated from my partner back in July - we have a 13yo son together & we're not married. We are living together still while our separation is finalised and while I wait to complete on my new house. It's pretty amicable thus far.

My ex partner has 2 adult kids. Both of whom I got on really well with. They are half siblings to my son. The daughter is having a birthday party next week and I've not been invited but my son is going with his dad. I sort of get why I've not been asked. It's all a bit raw and awkward. My ex partner has said he thinks everyone needs some space right now. We are bound to cross paths in the future due to my son I'm sure anyway.

My question is do I get a card and a little present for them to take for my ex step daughter? I was thinking something small - a little token gift.

Or shall I just leave it? I'm 50:50 on the idea so wondered what others thought?

I would leave it if you're not invited, it's your son's dad job then to get a present from/ for the son as such.

You've been in each other's lives for a long time and she is still your son's half sister so I would send a card and small gift. Hopefully you can still maintain a relationship with the family once it all calms down. A relationship ending doesn't need to mane you have no contact ever again. I had a birthday gift recently from my ex MIL.

I would get a gift, I think it sends the message that you're still around for them if they want you to be.

Card and small gift seems kindest

I would definitely send a card and a small gift.

I’d definitely send a card and little gift.

Thank you all - it feels right in my heart to send them with a little something from me. Just to say happy birthday x
