Im looking for guidance please :

Legally married for 22 months. EX from Thailand. We have no children - but 1 each from PREVIOUS relationships.

EX was only in UK for 10 months where we lived together - EX has returned back to Thailand to pre martial house

No cohabitation prior to marriage.

No joint assets or bank accounts. I have savings and investments all prior to marriage.

All expenses for visa and flights incurred by me.

Legally divorced - I have offered £3k but EX is demanding £20k in settlement.

what should I expect to pay

Is he going to take you to court?
Let him. I doubt a court would award him anything. And if he thinks he's entitled to something it's up to him to try and get it. He's in Thailand. Ignore him. You're divorced. He's in the past.

What do you mean by legally divorced?

Bunny111 · 19/10/2023 09:07

I think a clean break order would be a wise precaution against 'revisiting the well'

Gauging the way to minimise the overall cost (payoff and costs to secure the order) is the tricky part. It might turn out to be cheaper in the long run to offer more in order to secure agreement so that court costs are just for rubber stamping.
