Signing house over - what's the process?

Stbx has decided that rather than arguing about it (him) he will sign the house over to me. (Not sure that's the right terminology).

So, i get a mortgage in my own name, and then what?

How much equity is in the house ??

So long as you can get a mortgage to cover the current mortgage plus any payout he wants (equity) then it can all be done while going through the remortgage process. Sometimes you may need to pay a bit extra for legal stuff due to it not being a standard remortgage.

If he is getting a payout then he will need a solicitor to receive the payment as far as I understand.

Are you married? Are you getting a divorce?

I would seek legal advice.

I will be speaking to my solicitor just trying to stop my brain whirring. There is equity. We are getting divorced..
