Crypto Currency

can anyone advise on how crypto currency balances can be provided?

STBXHs Form E showed transactions to EToro, Binance, Skrill and Uphold. We requested evidence of balances held as part of the questionnaire but he has simply provided screenshots showing a nil balance.
is there a particular document that we can request as part of the schedule of deficiencies? I don’t think they have statements as such.

Thank you

I’m about to request similar from my STBXH and he has told me, he simply will not provide anything listing crypto balances and that “oops he’s lost the passwords to his cold storage wallet” will be his answer.
It is notoriously difficult to pursue cryptocurrency but I’ll be watching this thread with interest.

If he is refusing to provide information then the court can threaten sanctions and / or order settlement based on either the point of entry into or exit out of cryptocurrencies - i.e. the original fiat transactions and any purchases or withdrawals back into fiat. Obviously if he bought several bitcoin 15 years ago then you wouldn’t want to accept this because of the huge increase in valuation; but if he’s just been trading in NFTs more recently at not particularly high original investments then their volatility is such that any real valuation of them for a split is difficult.

If you suspect he holds significant amounts then the court can also order a full forensic assessment by a crypto and blockchain specialist to establish investment value - but again, the time, cost and difficulty of this means you’d only real pursue it if you thought he was holding really significant amounts.
