Do you qualify for legal
aid ? Ie is there domestic violence - if so mediation isn’t appropriate

Whiteroomjoy · 29/05/2023 17:17

Don’t know answer.
BUT
do click on link above at the MN header to ADVICE NOW. Down e load their guides to walk you through divorce and settlement processes. They are very clear about what you must use solicitor for, what you might want to, and what you really don’t need solicitor for. They also have lists of solicitors they’re linked with that’ll do JUST the tasks you want and not try to say that you need them to do everything.
the 30 free mins is not going to help much. It’ll point you to obvious stuff, but is actually solicitor selling their services, don’t forget that , that’s why they offer it. You can get as much out of 10 mins reading on line on ADVICE NOW, or the government divorce web site than a solicitor will tell you in that session

Oh, and you do NOT need a solicitor to petitioner for divorce. The system has been set up that way by government. Do not let a solicitor tell you they can do it. Really you can do it yourself. Now. It’ll take about an hour and is easier frankly than applying for a passport.
