Section 8 - divorce application

Anyone previously been in the trenches and can shed a bit of light?!

I haven’t instructed a solicitor yet. Can I just complete the form online first and then instruct in the near future (when I get some time free of work/kids/anxiety spiralling…)

The online form looks all very straightforward, bar section 8. We have a property to sort out and have had some chats about it. What the heck do I tick in section 8? Too much legalese for me!

Yes, you can complete the form before getting a lawyer.
Tick yes if you have finances to split. Tick myself and then tick children if you have children and think you may need an order for child maintenance. The finance order is a separate process so this bit doesn't do anything other than stating your intention.
