Lives with order

I have a lives with/lives with order with my ex over our child - I wanted to go on a weeks holiday which he is obstructing for no valid good reason. The holiday would be impacting one overnight for him with our child in the 7 days and he is stating that he won't grant permission due to missing time with child.
I have offered the night back upon our return and encouraged him to also take child away for a week however he is choosing to abuse the court order to obtain more time with child that what was ordered - ie il give you the holiday if you give me xyz.
Is he allowed to do this?! I see on google that a lives with order means we don't need to seek permission from either parent but I still gave me so much notice etc and he's still being difficult.
Can he stop me?
