I received a solicitor bill about a week ago . I haven’t paid yet as I am waiting for a work invoice ( these bills are crippling me ) . I received an email yesterday asking if all ok with the bill ( from accounts ) and my solicitor hasn’t replied to my email so mauve account is froze . Is this normal ? I thought I would get a couple of weeks to pay :-(

i had to keep money on our account… can you take out a 0% credit card and sort a set payment out so you can spread costs?

My solicitor said I should be paying on our joint card but he will go mad if I do that , he won’t give me access to statements etc and I only use it for the food order

I have posted before . My e DH is emotional abusive and we are in the process of divorcing . I filed in 2020 when he smashed something up in front of DC . He has never offered to do any school holiday cover at all apart from one week in summer holidays , he has now demanded to take them away all week during next half term , I told him that’s unreasonable and he can have half the week as I had already planned to see my family ( they live very far away so my parents never get to see the children ) I already feel so isolated and divorce is very stressful as he is abusive . Can he just demand the entire week?

Presumably your solicitor knows how abusive he is. Have you just ignored the bill? With my old solicitor we had a good relationship, and I could have told her about the consequences of paying on the joint account, and ask for leeway until x date when your work invoice comes in.

They may still do little/no work on your account until it's paid though, which is kind of fair enough but presumably they come across this a lot with financially abusive relationships?

Yes she is aware of the history . I did receive an email on Friday so they haven’t blocked it . I have applied for a credit card but it seems unfair to get into debt when he is swanning around spending money with no care
