Financial split when married for short time

Husband and I have separated. We were together for 20 years but married for only three years.
If we saw solicitors about a financial split does what was accumulated before the marriage come into the equation or is not on the table? I have a pension that was accumulated before we married and ex is after half of it.
I know it's not as simple as 50-50 but would it considered as an asset of the marriage?

The court will consider any period of cohabitation that moved seamlessly into marriage. So you are probably in long marriage territory.

So the court will look at your respective needs, and the sharing principle is likely to apply to all assets.

Thank you MrsButtBibby even though that's not good news for me.

Talk properly to your solicitor, though.
