Feels like divorce is taking forever!

Filed for divorce in August 2022, paid court fee for financial order mid-December. The court still haven’t confirmed dates for full financial disclosure or the first hearing. Solicitors are stating there’s a backlog due to the No fault divorce coming into play.
Anyone else in the same boat? I just want to know where I’m plodding and get on with my life. STBXH has swanned off into the sunset and is in no rush. So frustrated

With respect, August is only 5 months ago. Your expectations are unrealistic.

Mine started in December 2021 and still just trying to get full financial disclosure at present. Depends how cooperative your ex is I think. Mine is unbelievable x

@GiltEdges @MrsDancer oh wow, I feel a bit unreasonable now 😐.
@MrsDancer i think my ExH will be the same, it’s going to be like trying to get blood from a stone!

It must be the financial disclosure causing such delays, and I think it's a bit of a lottery as to how long the court takes depending which one your application goes to. I didn't do a full disclosure and it hasn't taken long. But then I wasn't arsed about where his money is.
My financial consent order was approved within 2 weeks so the disclosure must be a big hold up. I know it must be super frustrating. My divorce has taken 9 months from application to finalising. May 2022, and finalising on Thursday this week.

I filed in August 2020 and am STILL bloody married! Mediation in April 21 failed, first hearing October 21, FDR April 2022, Final Hearing October 22 with consent order approved, Application for decree absolute November 22, Still no decree absolute. AAARRRGGGGHHH I cannot believe how long this has taken, my ex has been a complete knob throughout the whole process with his unwillingness to negotiate or decide on anything. Has cost me £42k as well! And has meant we have missed a buoyant housing market and now the house has sat on the market since October. All I want is to move on and be in my own little house and have my own little life.

On average for me each court hearing took around 6 months from applying to the day. Sorry x

Also cant believe how long this is taking! Get soooooo frustrated with the legal system /solicitor. Filed for divorce on line last February. Am now divorced - but financial settlement using solicitors is taking forever. Am sure they are just adding extra processes to make money! Just want to get on with my life!

Split in 2016, applied for nisi in 2018, got the absolute today. Getting the absolute took a year because Bury St Edmonds was so crap. Sorry 😞

Is that because you were still sorting out the finances before you applied for the DA, or because it took BSE 1 year to issue a DA after it was applied for? I presume it is the former?

I am in a similar position where the DA application has been made “out of time” (18 months after the DN was pronounced). The application was made 3 weeks ago. I was hoping to be fully divorced now. I think “out of time” applications have to go before a judge, whereas others do not. This is probably what causes some of the delay too.

Finances were agreed Jan 2022, absolute applied for soon after. It took a YEAR for Bury st Edmonds to get their act together to send me the Absolute, despite constant chasing.

Thank you for your reply.

That doesn’t sound good at all! Mine is with BSE too. Hope they have their act together now.
