Not reporting ex..

I have children with my ex, he doesn’t pay any maintenance, he hasn’t paid a penny in 6 years. I’ve been to cms and it’s nil assessment. This is due to him not working or claiming benefits, he instead rents our rooms in his property but doesn’t declare this. I have never reported him as I don’t think it’s worth it and I’m pretty certain nothing can be done about this (I have zero proof but he admits it verbally to me but denies it in messages) I don’t want to report him as I could face retaliation off him so isn’t worth it. I’ve been told to report him but pretty certain nothing can be done as I’ve asked about this before. I believe it’s cash in hand. What would happen,( if anything) if I did report him? I’m not going to get any money by reporting him?

Oh and he will 100% know it’s me, he is not stupid, so I couldn’t get away with pretending it wasn’t.

You can earn up to £7,500 a year renting out rooms in your home tax free. You could him report to HMRC but without any proof that he’s bringing in more than that, I can’t imagine it will be a priority investigation. No, it’s unlikely to get you much in the way of maintenance either way. It’s entirely up to you.
