Relocating after being in refuge.

I'm currently in a women's refuge due to emotional and verbal abuse towards me and the children, been here for a month. I've applied for social housing in a county three hours away. Hopefully we'll get housed in the next few months... BUT...

My eldest (different father to ex) is currently in Year 10 and I'm terrified about fucking up his education if we move during such a crucial stage.

I could wait until he's finished his exams, but I'm worried that by then my ex will have got his claws into the legal system and we'll be trapped here forever (kids with ex are 3 and 1).

Has anyone got any advice? Ideas I might not have thought of? Please be gentle. My head is a mess.

Take legal advice and go for where you have support the courts are more likely to go for that. And for gods sake don’t say you want to leave the father to reduce the relationship between him and the children- the judge won’t allow it.

No I'm not going to say that. I don't have support anywhere
