Pre nups experiences

Does anyone have first hand experiences with pre nups in England? Do they hold or not. I am hearing conflicting things.
If you have children after marriage but do have agreed on asset splits expecting children in the future when you do prenup. Does that work?

They don't have any legal meaning here in the uk.

If you can't agree on the finances following a divorce then the judge decides. He might agree with the pre-nup. Then again, he might not.Grin

My understanding is that they don't have any legal weight in England. However, they do give an indication to the courts about what was originally discussed and agreed between you both. So it provides evidence in that respect, so not a bad starting point

They are not legally binding but they are taken into account. A lot depends on the precise circumstances.

The only person I know with a prenup has a family farm, her husband has waived any claim on it if they split up, it will pass to the children though. They were advised this is common and would be honoured as long as the other party wasn't left destitute.

A multi millionaire leaving their exw without housing, any income etc would not be honoured
