I was with my husband for ten years, we never lived together. We married last July 29th I have had to wait a year to get divorced. He left me after 4 months off marriage announcing this on the family group what’s app chat that i had chosen my unborn grandchild over him.
We both owned properties previously I have rental properties brought 15 plus years ago and he has a flat with no mortgage on and a house with at least 400k equity in it.
I sold my family home 20 months ago and brought a plot of land in my name only.
The plan was at some point we was hopefully going to build a home for us and a house next door to either rent or sell. He put no money into this.
He did deal with the architect as he was one of his friends and wouldn’t let me have much involvement.
Some background my husband was mentally abusive to me. He isolated me from my family and my friends over many years. This stepped up when he found out my daughter was pregnant and I was going to be a Nan. Saying any future home we lived in together they were not welcome in. He ultimately gave me a choice between him and mu unborn grandson. He used to say I was dirty, thick.
I wasn’t allowed to see my friends of 35 plus years.
I married him thinking he would change (yes crazy eh) he became far far worse.
So I am just trying to rebuild my life and a couple of days ago I get an email from him saying he wants a pay out on the land as we found it together and ‘our home was going to be built on it’ He says he knows how it was brought but I should do the moral thing and have Integrity and come up with a figure he is happy with. As he now thinks once these houses once built will have a massive profit in them.
We had a Pre Nup drawn up by Divorce Online basically listing all our assets and what his is his and mine is mine. Which I know is not legally binding, it lists the land as mine. He earns 4 times the amount of me.
I applied for the divorce thinking it would be easy now he has come back with this saying he won’t sign a clean break order.
I only want to instruct a solicitor if I really have too, please can I have some advice.
I am sick with worry I have lived in work flat for the last 15 months.
The land sits there I may sell it may not get the finance I have no idea what to do tbh as have been mentally quite poorly. The long and short of it is I now have no family home where he has not given up anything.
