Hi all,

I’m officially divorced and in process of the awful name change back to maiden name.

Im now panicking because I will have nothing in my maiden name to show I am their mum. For instance if we travel abroad their birth certificate will be in my old name but travel documents in maiden name.

Has anyone done this or knows anything?

thanks xx

Just use your decree absolute as proof.

My daughter has always had a different name to me "Ms Pink-Smith" and daughter "Miss Pink-Jones" this has never caused me problems she has always had her own passport. We travelled internationally from her being a year old and never had any issues and never carried extra information.

Don't forget it's only in certain countries that children and parents share the same names.

My daughter is now 30 and passed the travelling with mum issue.

I however have recently married so need to change from "Ms Pink-Smith" to "Mrs Pink-bun" and as my new husbands name is Mr Bun I had to change my name by Deed Poll and am using that to change my name....they dont make it easy do they

Is there a reason why you feel
you need to change? Many divorced women don’t

Birth certificates have the mother’s maiden name on them. If you are worried then get a change of name deed from married name to maiden name and keep a copy with you when travelling with the children.
