Who's filing for Divorce on Weds April 6th?

Separated with STBXH last year and we both agreed to wait for No Fault to come in. I can't wait to get the ball rolling now. Who else will be starting the process on Weds?

This is what the gov.U.K. Website says

You must wait 20 weeks after your divorce application has been issued before applying for a conditional order.

You can apply for a conditional order and continue with the divorce as a sole applicant, even if you started the divorce process jointly with your husband or wife.

After you apply
If the judge agrees, the court will send you and your husband or wife a certificate. This may take several weeks.

The certificate will tell you the time and date you’ll be granted a conditional order or decree nisi. You will still be married after it has been granted.

You’ll have to wait 43 days (6 weeks and 1 day) before you can apply to finalise the divorce and end the marriage.

Mumof3confused · 09/04/2022 07:27

Does this mean it’s going to take a minimum of 26 weeks from start to finish?

GeneLovesJezebel · 09/04/2022 07:29

Well done to you all, it’s been a long wait for this.

Betalife · 09/04/2022 09:23

I’ve been separated for three years and ‘nesting’ with my ex for that long too…I was really hoping that this would be the light at the end of the tunnel but sounds like it could drag on. Thanks for all the advice.

I just hope solicitor has now filed at least !

alm92 · 12/04/2022 15:48

Hi :) I applied on the 6th too! We separated Dec 2020. I can't believe you have to wait 20 weeks though to apply for the conditional?!

Worriesandwobbles · 13/04/2022 09:22

I am waiting to file mine in May. Is the online process fairly straight forward ?

Echobelly · 13/04/2022 09:24

@blueshoes - it's when 'No fault' divorce became available in the UK for the first time www.gov.uk/government/news/blame-game-ends-as-no-fault-divorce-comes-into-force

I did it online and its so easy! You put in your details, his details, marriage details and when you split. Upload your marriage certificate...state how you will be paying and thats about it!
alm92 · 13/04/2022 11:25

I filed on the 6th - stbxh has messaged me today asking why he hasnt yet recieved anything about the divorce. Anyone know how quickly it sends through to the other person? We are doing it online, no disputes & no financial orders etc so its just an email being sent to him. He reckons hes got friends that got sent it the same day it was applied for?!

Betalife · 13/04/2022 11:31

My solicitor said he is waiting for ours to be validated. There’s probably a big back log!

neverhappyitseems2345 · 13/04/2022 11:39

That makes sense, I bet lots of people applied last week.

Worriesandwobbles · 13/04/2022 13:55

That was part of the reason I held off a month (other financial things to sort too) as I thought there would be a backlog. But then there are also lots of bank holidays coming up so not sure it will be much quicker in May. 26 weeks feels like a long wait but I will feel better once the ball is rolling at least.

alm92 · 13/04/2022 17:22

Feels like forever doesn't it, I just keep thinking atleast by 2023 it will all be over!

toppocket · 14/04/2022 08:04

Ive filed and apart from my 'we've received your application email' I've not heard anything. The portal said it is waiting for validation and the date given is the 27th.

I'm anxiously waiting for H to get the notification.

I feel sick.

Betalife · 15/04/2022 17:17

How does it work now ? Will H get notified by email or papers ?

alm92 · 15/04/2022 21:32

@betalife I have no idea, so I'm following to find out. I've put his email address down hoping it will go via email and be quicker! But no idea what they do now.

toppocket · 16/04/2022 08:11

I'm assuming email but will let you know when it happens.

alm92 · 17/04/2022 16:51

I got a letter yesterday in the post confirming my application has been checked by the courts and accepted. I've then text my stbxh and he received the email! The access code he was given doesn't bloody work though. When he gets that sorted & accepts it, we have to wait until the 1st September to apply for the conditional. Seems like forever away

alm92 · 25/04/2022 16:45

How's everyone doing? My husband responded to my application last night so it's just a 20 week wait now to do anything else...

Worriesandwobbles · 25/04/2022 18:49

Am glad things are moving for you. Did you have to pay the money at the online application stage ? Am in the process of applying for universal credit so not sure whether to wait a bit, although I would love it to be finalised by Christmas so don't want to leave it too long. I am nervous about getting a consent order sorted.

DrBrennerFan · 25/04/2022 18:52

Got my marriage certificate ready when I move it comes with me. Passport birth certificate even decree absolute from last time. Benefit letters details from Moorfields. Etc.

Betalife · 26/04/2022 08:11

I haven’t had any sort of confirmation yet but it’s going through my solicitor so maybe that’s why ? (Wishful thinking)

is there anything we can do in this 20 week wait ?

alm92 · 26/04/2022 08:16

@worriesandwobbles I work part time & claim universal credit as a top up, therefore I didn't have to pay for my online divorce. Thank god!

Betalife · 07/05/2022 13:14

Got an update from solicitor this morning. Said that the portal has had many glitches and he has had to file in my name only ? I have no idea what this means.

I also got an estimate of costs given that it's looking like I have to go to court. Does this come off any settlement ? It seems slightly unfair that I have to pay all of these costs & ex can just ignore everything.

So now we plan to go to court in October...

DrBrennerFan · 07/05/2022 17:42

I thought this law would make things simpler especially those who go and dare not not go, back once told they’re leaving as in my and millions of other cases (wail’s in despair)
