How do you split the childcare with ex?

I need to come up with ideas.

I live 10 mins away from dd school. Have own car, I work part time

Stxw lives 30 mins from school. Has own car and works full time

My stbxh has our dd's eow. He moved an hour away. Given your circumstances could you do eow and 1 or 2 evenings (not the night though) a week with dad?

Part time working parent has children on days off. Parent closer to school does majority of school days

Further away, full time parent does on after school dinner/homework mid week (overnight too if they can get children to school the next day)

Further away parent does EOW Friday after school until Sunday evening.

For example, I have my DC overnight all week and EOW. Ex does one after school + dinner a week (Wed) and EOW Friday to Sunday night. Children don't spend any school nights with him (too far away, poor time keeping etc).

School holidays are split 6/8 weeks, more with me because I get more time off than he does.

There are many factors and permutations that work for people and it’s important to talk about what your mutual expectations are for your children. It’s not simply a case of trying to maintain the same work patterns post divorce as you had in the marriage. That isn’t always affordable and desirable.
But it’s easier for some people than others to adjust their work patterns to enable 50:50. It’s getting easier due to wfh. And it gets easier the olde the children.

I think it would be reasonable to think your ex would want flex their working week to see the children more. Reduced or compressed hours is a common solution.

I would think you may want to increase your hours to improve income.
