Is there any way of getting myself in a better place than my DH to get the house ?
I’d happily buy him out, but what if he refuses that and says he wants the house ?

I gave up work so that he could soar through the ranks. It’s as much my pension as his.

That’s not in dispute. Legally the pension is a joint asset to be shared. But so is the house. You will have to negotiate. If he wants cash now then he may sacrifice his pension.

Again you need proper legal advice and a talk with him. A judge may not even sign off on the order if it leaves him unable to purchase a place for himself. How would he house himself if he has no equity from the house? You may not care but a judge will, even if you both agree. Do you know how much in savings you both have?
