Solicitor or self-representation? Recommendations

Does anyone regret representing themselves? There finances and child custody to arrange. Married for 13 years, joint assets probably circa 350k plus pensions so worried that working with solicitors might easily wipe out 10% or more of what we own, but husband doesn’t want to divorce and he has played dirty before (abuse) so worried about representing myself. Any advice greatly appreciated!!

@nataliajjw only you know your DH and you need the best outcome possible

I started of with a solicitor who got all the initial paperwork done and lodged, covid struck along with my exW being extremely awkward I decided then to self represent, I even did a Zoom court meeting self representing, when the divorce was coming to an end I then moved back to my original solicitor.

My asset base was extremely complex and I've spent a lot on legals, my exW was abusive verbally and occasionally violent.

I do know how traumatic this process is but you will get there, life is far better when you come out the other side.
