Child Maintenance

Why would I as the resident parent be asked to pay maintenance to the father of my child, he currently doesn't have contact or overnight stays?? "Child" is on an older teen. Application to CMS was made by him after he decided the private arrangement was costing too much.
Am utterly confused 😕

Sounds bonkers. I doubt he’s told them the truth. You need to call them.

Mmmmdanone · 11/09/2021 13:04

He must have said he did more than 50% overnights and you are the higher earner. Hopefully all will be sorted out with a phone call .

Darkosx3 · 11/09/2021 13:34

Thank you. Yes, bonkers is right. He is the higher earner, does not live in the same country. I am astounded that CMS have assumed the information he provided is correct without clarification from me, the resident parent. Will co tact 1st thing Mon. They are only open 9 to 3 and not at weekends... 😔

Any parent can make an application to CMS. If he thinks your private arrangement is too much he could be asking them to work out how much he pays as he thinks it will be less. However, I thought you all had to be resident in UK, although I may be wrong. What does your letter from CMS say?

After a very long time on hold, a very very long time, lol.
He provided incorrect information. They are closing the case. Idiot.
