Divorce fees?

Hello, I got married in 2015 and we separated in 2018. I want to go through divorce proceedings and get the marriage officially ended once and for all but I'm not sure how to go about it or how much it costs.

We are both amicable with each other, and are still friendly enough that I know it won't be a horrible court case or anything. Just a simple divorce that we have both agreed on.

What's the minimum this would cost in England and what do I need to do?

Start here: www.gov.uk/divorce

Minimum you can pay is the court fee of about £550. (that's what it was a few years ago, anyway).

Mostly it's filling in forms.

You will need a consent order in place o agree finances and make it legally binding, I completed the basics with my stbxh and then got a solicitor to draft the order cost 400 plus vat plus 50 court fee

@Kittycat2019 did you use an online solicitor? I'm just wondering where I can find someone reasonable?!

I’ve just done the divorce process myself and it’s cost me £550 (but there are reductions in that if you are on benefits at all).
Was a very simple process - one form to fill out three times, then post it off to your nearest divorce courts (which you can find on the government website). The whole process from start to getting your Decree Absolute does take a good few months, but if it’s an amicable split, with no arguments between you on how assets/childcare is going to be divided it’s really quick and easy and doesn’t require a solicitor.

I used a solicitor from a Welsh firm much cheaper than London prices she was very kind and informative . She has just submitted consent order for us can keep you updated with how it goes if you want to dm.me. she said should hear in 3-4 weeks but is confident will go through
