Taking my car

My H has realised that I mean business. He's now looking for somewhere to live. He told me this morning he is going to apply for a divorce. And I have to buy the car from him if I want it. He said he's not going to pay the monthly repayments. I work part time. I cannot afford to buy the car from him. This will mean I will be without a car which is not a problem for me but I drive my child to school and all activities. Not having a car will be difficult to keep going with these activities. We have no savings and don't own our home. Where would I stand with keeping the car? Or do I need to just let it go?

Is the car in your husbands name? Is it owned outright or are there payments left on it?

Whose name is it registered in?

You could get cheap leasing deal on a small car instead.

Millshake01 · 16/08/2021 11:09

It's in his name. It's a bank loan. He pays £100 a month for the car.
I could look into leasing a car. That's a great idea.

Leave him his car and loan then. His responsibility.
You get your own cheap car make sure low insurance group.
You need to break ties.

Or I'm thinking I can just hire a zip car for the days that I need a car.
