After 52 years my parents have both been open about the fact that their marriage is dead and has been for some years.
My father is living abroad and has been since a month before the first lockdown (conveniently unable to return and now seemingly has no plans to, aside maybe for practicalities. His words). He has spent half a year overseas for the last 5 years.
He has now firmly told my mum he wants the house sold as they will now both need the money. They have had the house 35 years so this is very emotional for my mum.The house is paid for. My dad insists he will do the right thing financially for my mum but has form for being cagey with with personal details financially.
Despite 2 prior conversations of divorce he has not mentioned it all this time so my sibling and I have, in agreement with our mum, have got her a 30 min consultation with a solicitor very soon.
What advuce/questions should my mum be asking at this appointment?
Thank you for reading.
