Clean Break

Hi wonderful people of MN-land, I`m hoping that someone can shed some light on this topic for me.

I have been married all my adult life (married at 19, I`m 48 now). We have 3 grown up children, all of which are still living at home, DS30, DD26 and DS17. The boys are planning to move out in the next 2 years or so, not sure about DS due to MH issues.

We dont own our house, in fact its rented in my name only. The DC have their own income, so there`s nothing really that I and H have to spilt.

I dont want to have a share of his pension because Im working and paying my own pension.

So there`s no property or any assets I can think of that would require sharing, so in that case could I just apply for an online divorce, contact a solicitor if any legal paperwork was needed and be done with things?

Many thanks in advance

Yes most definitely. A clean break would be a consent order which you could ask to be approved after the nisi. There are online companies or a solicitor will charge you a fixed fee for it, but not a lot. You can divorce without a consent order but they are worth doing in case either party inherits, changes their minds re pensions at a future date. Just go straight through the gov website. Good luck. Final thought though if DS is going to be living with you you could add some agreed maintenance for him into the consent order.
