Redundancy pay & child maintenance

Hi...not sure if anyone can give a definitive answer to this. I've bee divorced 4 years. Children are school age and spend more time with my ex. We have always had a privately agreed maintenance. I'm about to be made redundant...as it's technically voluntary I will get a lump sum redundancy package. Is there anyway ex could claim any part of the redundancy money? I will have to renegotiate the child maintenance payments as I obvs won't have an income...but I'm worried ex will want a portion of the lump sum....

What's your plan next for work? How much is the lump sum? If you're likely to employed again soon it would be fairest to try to use some of the redundancy to keep up with the monthly payments till then. Why should your kids go without?

If it’s a reasonable lump sum you should continue to pay your monthly maintenance amount, why shouldn’t you?

How much is it? Like the others said, can you continue to pay CM until you get another job?
