Embarrassed to split

I think it’s time for my marriage to end I expect things will be quite amicable but I’m too embarrassed to admit it to any of friends and family and it’s stopping me from biting the bullet and leaving. Does anyone else feel this way? Or has anyone else been through this.
Thanks for reading

I was a bit embarrassed to tell people my relationship was over it makes no sense but I felt like a failure.

Wasn't gonna stay in an unhappy marriage though just to save myself having to ensure a few moments of social awkwardness

The same. My husband and I split less than a year after our wedding. Our engagement was long so we could save for the big wedding. By the time the wedding came around we’d both changed our minds but neither of us could say it. We went through with the wedding, plodding on for 10 more months then called it a day.
It was really hard. We gave back money to those who had given us cash gifts and i was so embarrassed having to tell my friends and family. It was a big life lesson learned for us both.

I was worried about telling people. The people I've told so far have been very close family and friends who have known for a while that I wasn't happy, so it didn't really come as a surprise to them.
What has helped me is reframing it in my mind; it's not a 'failure' to realise your marriage is over, it's an important realisation that you deserve better, and that you can make changes to get yourself into a better life.
If there are DC involved (like mine) then it will make it harder for sure, but ultimately there is no point staying in a marriage if you're unhappy, and true friends should see this and support you. Flowers
