HI,

I just wanted to know whether i should be asking my solicitors if the course have lost my papers as things are dragging on with my divorce finalisation:

Decree Nisi - granted 3 Feb 2020

Consent Order approved by the judge 8th October 2020

Absolute applied for by solicitor on 11th November 2020

i know there are delays etc due to COVID but would be great to hear if anyone else has had a speedier resolution !

thanks !

Hi @op, have you applied as petitioner? If so my solicitor has told me that it should only take a couple of weeks. I think this can be affected by area though. He also said the system is so bogged down and just getting slower.

My absolute took about 3 weeks from application to bring received back. I'd get the solicitor to reapply.

This was in September last year I should say, so within covid times.

Sounds like something has gone wrong / paperwork lost. Try phoning the court yourself and if they have no record get your solicitor to email another copy through with DA application in the title. Or you may find that they have done it, and are already divorced. Good luck.

The Court that your Petition was filed - it should appear on the court documentation. You will also need to quote the case number.

Update : I called them and it was issued last week so I'm glad I called ! Thanks everyone
