Savings accrued post separation

How are these generally treated? STBX is highish earner but has wasted all his money prior to divorce and hidden assets. I on the other hand are sensible (one of the reasons for divorcing) and despite warning much less and being the main carer for our daughters now have considerable savings accrued since separation (lockdown meant I spent far less)

I know if there's not enough money they are fair game (he doesn't have a deposit for a house for example) but what normally happens? Is there anything I can do with it all (28k) ?

Put the money into premium bonds in your child's name ?

I believe through hear say as I'm yet to consult a solicitor but friends propping me up right now tell me, you need to provide 12 months bank statements and then the spending is looked at to ensure no one is lying/hiding money etc.
