child maintenence and shared custody

Hi All,

Does anyone have experience with CSA and shared custody please?

I share night custody of the children evenly 7/14 nights on rota as I work night shifts and my ex works days. But I have the children more during the days and pay for everything such as school trip, school lunches, nursery, clothes, shoes ect and I take them to all appointments ect. They are also registered at my address for everything. Day time wise he only has them a Tuesday day and every other Saturday day.

Do CSA only look at the nights he has them or has anyone got maintence even with this arrangement as you have them more in the day time?

Ex suddenly seems to think he should not be paying me maintence because of this and website is unclear. Debating putting a claim in to CSA.

Thank you in advance.

Can you just agree to split the costs - childcare, clothes, trips etc amicably. My friends have a bank account that child benefit is paid into and then they both contribute equally, they then withdraw money to pay for childcare costs, uniforms and school trips (both parents pay for leisure clothes to be kept at each house as needed.).

Amicable discussion usually are the best outcome

He used to pay £200 pm for the 4 children before but he is in a new relationship and is now refusing to talk to me, refusing to pay money, I have sent solicitors letters and now seeking mediation.

I have offered to split costs and give him evidence of spending. But no reply.

Cms split split on nights sonic it’s really 50:50 he won’t be expected to pay

CMS will base calculations on per nights -- so you get a big reduction for 50/50 care but still have to pay.

The law about 50/50 not leading to any child maintenance is based on all care, not just the number of nights. To get zero maintenance all aspects of looking after the children come into play -- not just the number of nights.
