So we are in the early stages of separation, in that although I’ve told him I want to separate my husband is 100% against it and is doing everything to avoid talking about it.. so we have made no progress on post separation arrangements. We have 2 kids, aged 6 and 3. I just really need to know where I stand and what my rights are. Horrible position to be in but is for the best I believe in the long term. Any tips on that first appointment?

Are you still on speaking terms other than the subject he doesn't want to discuss? If you are still on amicable terms do you think you'll remain so? If you want to press on before the 2 year separation period is up, someone is going to have to play the "blame game." Be careful where this can take you.

Yes we are still on speaking terms, and we haven’t fully separated yet but really before I firmly tell him that’s what we’re going to do I want to know exactly where I stand when we progress to physically separating. I don’t necessarily want to push ahead before the 2 year separation period is up, at the moment I don’t see the rush.
