Are there any mortgage companies that you would recommend who take child maintenance into account when deciding on lending amounts. Please tell me your success stories so I can approach the right lenders. Thanks.

Hi I went through a mortgage broker and there were lots of companies that would take child maintenance into account. Halifax being one of them. Look for a trusted mortgage broker and they will run through all your options. (I literally just googled ones in my areas and read reviewa, most should give you a free consultation) I was pleasantly surprised how much I could get and with interest rates do low you should be able to get a really good deal. Hi @CT33 I went to a mortgage broker as I thought he would be able to give me the best advice regarding this and I ended up being approved for a mortgage from Natwest so they definitely take into account child maintenance, working tax credits etc
I'll hopefully be moving in the next few weeks I can't wait never thought I would be able to buy my own house!

Do the child maintenance payments have to be under a court order to count? Or via CSA? We are amicable so were just sorting it ourselves. Also, do I have to show 6 months of payments or something? Thanks.

When I looked into they wanted 6 months record of payments but no need for court order.

Thanks. It’s tricky though as DH won’t want to move out until house is remortgaged and he has his half of the money released from the equity. When he moves out he’ll pay maintenance. So I can get 6 months before then!!

You should be living as separated even if in the same house is no one cooks or cleans for the other and finances totally separate like a house share. Then if he isn't doing child care he pays maintenance. You play the game.

Sorry can someone just clarify I will have money for a very small property, will I be able to get a mortgage with just child maintenance and tax credits
