If I apply for a divorce online today, when will my husband recieve the papers?

Then he gets 10 days to respond?

Then its 6 weeks and 1 day from then to the Decree Nisi or am I confused here?

No the 6 weeks and a day is for absolute from nisi if you don't need consent order. My nisi was about 10 months from serving papers but it does depend on the court...

Oh wow that's ages!

Was there a delay in your ex sending stuff back or is it just how long the court takes?

No I was respondent. That was from the time they acknowledged receipt.

Wow I thought it would be a matter of weeks. I am really surprised. Was it recently? Did you do yours online or by post?

On average it's 4-6 months for an uncontested divorce. The .gov site was helpful for me: www.gov.uk/divorce
You also need to remember that you have to factor in any delays in the court processing your application. I used a flat fee solicitor online (co-op legal), and took 6 months, plus one more for a clean break order (owe each other nothing and sever financial link, not suitable if children in the mix) - you'll need some kind of financial order in addition to the divorce, the divorce if does not automatically take care of this.

Uncontested, by post, and also co op legal. Timescale does vary depending on the court you use and that depends on where you live I think

There aren't any marital assets, we rented our family home. We have been separated almost 10 years so no reason for him to contest. Kids arrangements and maintenance have been in place for many years.

I dont know what I was expecting to be honest and not in any rush so will just wait it out.
