Deed Poll Name Change - what did you do?

Seperated for nearly 1.5years, hoping to divorce next year.
I have 2 DC and not wanting to change their surname but concerned about changing mine and it being different to theirs. I would like to change mine as its ownership over my own life and this new chapter but am hesitant.

What I would like to ask is did you change your surname and if so, when / why?

Is there any implications of having different surnames to your DC that I haven't thought of (travel etc)?

You can just start using your preferred name. If you are using your maiden name you can ust go back to using it.

If you want to do a deed pollthen yuo can doit for free, don't pay anyone.

Lots of people have children with different names, I've yet to see anyone have a problem with that, other than an ex making mischief.

Yes, the only reason I delayed was because I was self employed and my business was in my married name so it was quite a job. Also ex was kicking off anyway and there was no need to add fuel to the fire.

No practical problem with the kids. I did get a deed poll Plus multiple copies, it really helped speed up the changes on things like bank accounts where otherwise you need marriage certificates or whatever.

Thanks ladies. I am still a bit stuck in the mindset that I mustn't antagonise etc so will live with it for a week or so then take the plunge. Thank you for your help x
