Child maintenance

My ex has just started to pay maintenance for our 2 children. I think he’s moved in with someone with 1 child. Does this mean he’s entitled to reduce the maintenance he’s to pay for our children, and if so by how much?

Yes if he moves in with someone with a child then his maintenance to you will reduce. I can't remember by how much though sorry.

@Shouldbedoing. I think he’s already done it, as I’ve received less than CMS agreed. I’m struggling to find anything online as to how much less he’s allowed to pay.
It’s disgusting that he’s shacked up with his mistress, she gets maintenance for the child from her ex, yet mine is allowed to reduce what he’s due to pay.

If you know his income you can work it out on here. I just did a trial and for an income of £25 000 it was reduced by around £40 a month

It certainly sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Unfortunately thems the rules. It works the other way too though, if you live with another partner in the future, who might earn loads, your ex would still have to pay the same maintenance.

@Shouldbedoing. It certainly does. He’s not bright enough to have found this out himself, I suspect his mistress is behind this, he still did it though. I never thought my STBX was one of those men, he always hated men who deserted their children...he’s turned into one of them over the last 10 months. I hate him
